About me

I am a city planning graduate student who is passionate about constructing a more equitable and sustainable built environment. A lover of all things transit and urban bicycling, I am pursuing a career in which I will use the knowledge and technical skills I have learned in planning school to help make our cities healthier, happier, and more just places to live.

A particular interest of mine is planning for active transportation from both the bike/pedestrian facilities and land use perspectives. I am a firm believer that something as simple as being able to safely walk, roll, or ride a bike to the grocery store has the power to change lives and bring about revolutionary benefits in public health, sustainability, and socioeconomic justice.

I am currently wrapping up my first year in the Master of City and Regional Planning program at the University of Memphis and am enrolled in coursework that includes GIS for City Planners, Land Use Control, and Transportation Planning. I graduated Summa Cum Laude from Wofford College in May 2022 with a B.A. in International Affairs and Spanish and was invited to join the Phi Beta Kappa academic honor society.

In addition to on-campus at the UofM, you might run into me at a Grizzlies game or riding my bike around Downtown Memphis. I plan on remaining in the city for the foreseeable future and am particularly interested in internship opportunities with potential to turn into a longer-term local position.

Coursework

The first year of the planning program at the UofM has provided me with a strong introduction into the issues of the planning profession as well as the foundational knowledge and technical skill necessary to excel in an internship opportunity in the fields of transportation, land use planning and control, sustainability, or community development.

To date, I have either completed or will soon complete the following coursework:

  • Analysis for Community Planning

  • Land Use Planning

  • Planning Theory & Perspectives

  • Planning the American City

  • GIS for City Planners

  • Land Use Control

  • Transportation Planning

  • Planning & the Metro Economy

HCD Fellowship

In addition to my UofM coursework, I am a Housing and Community Development Fellow with the Center for Transforming Communities (CTC), a non-profit that helps Memphians build neighborhood democracy.

My responsibilities at CTC have included organizing grant reporting responsibilities, mapping internal data alongside demographics, and producing reports on resident-identified issues, such as crime and lack of streetlighting.

Currently, I am utilizing both Microsoft Excel and ArcGIS Pro to assist CTC in developing a performance management strategy to ensure the organization can easily demonstrate its victories with data into the future.
